~Summer Vignette and Simple & Sweet Fridays #67~

I wanted to decorate our buffet for a summer look. I bought this cute bird plate last year
and loved all the colors in it.
A bird bottle under the cloche and my
blue glass candlesticks with my Paris candles in them was just what it needed.
My mother gave me the white serving dish for a birthday gift.
I found my new flower runner at Home Goods.
The colors were perfect.
A little nest with blue eggs and fresh flowers.
How about some votives?
I always love when books are added to the vignette.
Some butterflies and garland to finish the look.
My friend Linda, sent a beautiful present to
thank me for staying at our home.
I will treasure them always and think of her.

Speaking of friends, I would like to thank you all for all your support
and wonderful posts that you share every week.

~Surprise Pumpkins In The Garden~

It has been so much fun growing a vegetable garden. Never knowing what will come up.
Looking at the garden we had some pumpkin seeds that had started from last year.
It was a wonderful surprise to see them growing early this year.
Hope they make it through the hot summer.
I have my fingers crossed.
I thought it would be a good idea to pick out a pumpkin recipe.
How can you go wrong with Heath bars in the recipe?

~Wheelbarrow Miniature Garden and Simple & Sweet Fridays~

I'm so excited about my new miniature garden.
You would have thought I won the lotto.
I found this wheelbarrow being given away free!!
I saw a miniature garden at Summers Past Farms in a wheelbarrow.
It was such a cute idea but I didn't want to buy a new one.
I had just the right spot for it.
Now the pumpkin patch has a new home!
I had to share our latest photo of our hydrangeas.
They got so big I can't see our fountain.
Another idea for a ladder!

~A Little Zest In Your Life~

I saw this citrus salt recipe in the Sunset magazine and thought it would be delicious.
They also suggested trying it with mandarin oranges, kumquat or blood oranges.
I'm sure it will taste good on cooked fish or salads
with a drizzle of olive oil.
Mix together:
3 tablespoons of lime or lemon zest.
Mix it with 1 cup flake salt (Maldon) or coarse salt.
Spread on a baking tray and air-dry for 8 hours to overnight until completely dry.
It will last 2 months in a airtight container.
I thought it needed a tag so I used a cork,
and different color inks.
It looks so pretty in the jars and I love how easy this recipe was!
We had some homemade lasagna Stan made that night.
Of course a little dessert to share!

~A Wonderful Surprise~

Stan surprised me with front row seats and to meet the group "The Tenors". It was a fantastic concert!
That morning we had gone for breakfast at
 Americana Restaurant in Del Mar.
They had outdoor seating and dogs are allowed so,
we brought our dog, Maggie.
Great Menu!
Of course, Maggie approved of what we ordered.
There's a beautiful view of the ocean down the street.
Surfers Everywhere!
We decided to go to Coronado so Maggie could play at dog beach.
We all had a fun day at the beach.
A WONDERFUL SURPRISE DAY
 I'LL NEVER FORGET!
