Our New Farm Sink

Stan surprised me for my birthday and bought me an old vintage farm trough. They date back to the 1930's and have a lifetime of use and weathering. They can be used for garden planters, but stan made it into a sink. We clean our vegetables in it and use it when we cut our flowers. Having a sink when you garden is heaven....

MINIATURE GARDENS

It has been so much fun creating our miniature garden. We started about 12 years ago. Stan and our kids built a stone wall and brick path underneath a pepper tree for a Mother's Day present for me. It was a perfect location to have the garden. We planted miniature trees and plants first. We then added houses, furniture, mushrooms, teapots, signs and more. It's been a fun addition to our garden.

Topiaries

Having fun in the garden adds some creativity and uses our imagination when using ordinary plants. A standard topiary can be made from boxwood, ivy plant, tree rose or rosemary. You can make all kinds of shapes; hearts, birds, balls or cones. The skies the limit. A collection adds a whimsical theme to your garden.

Garden Dome Cloches

We have been collecting different glass domes for awhile now. Stan had some old glass insulators since college. I found some domes at flea markets and stores. It's fun placing them in the garden and seeing all the shapes and sizes. Collecting things for the backyard makes it more inviting. 

One Potato, Two Potato

Today we planted all kinds of different potatoes in our raised beds. We decided to try a variety to see which ones we liked the best. We planted: French Fingerling, Red Thumb, Russian Banana and Adirondack Blue. We'll let you know how they taste. I ended up laminating the label of the blue potatoes because it was such a pretty color.
